About us
In 1939, Martien and Rie van der Valk started a restaurant together in Voorschoten. Through hard work and a hospitable, homely approach, their own business became a success.
In the years after the Second World War, they built several restaurants together with their 11 children.
The vision of hospitality from Martien and Rie still forms the basis of the successful "Van der Valk formula." Their attitude and entrepreneurial spirit serve as an example for younger generations of "Valks."
Family business Van der Valk
In the meantime, the company has been expanded by their grandchildren and great-grandchildren into the largest hospitality concern in the Netherlands with 59 branches and another 25 hotels in countries around the world.
In November 2010, the book "Van der Valk, the Turbulent History of a Dutch Hospitality Family" was published, in which the historical story is expressed.
